Polka Denim Anyone?

I am not quite sure how I feel about trend just day but this this trend. I mean I am up for fashion risks any day but this trend just seems so………….. risque, in fact too risky. You must be really adventurous and extremely playful to want to sport this look and your confidence level must be through the roof; but then again isn’t that what fashion is all about confidence and risks. Whatever the case if polka dot denim is your style, sport it.

I am loving my coated jeans

It is sleek and edgy, feels like wax on your skin and oh so cool. It is a great substitute for leather pants and cost less than a pair of real leather pants.

Decoding the Code: Dress Codes

Dress codes are always confusing when it comes to occasions. What is black tie or ultra formal or even creative black tie; yup all so confusing. Below I’d help you decode it all.

1. Black Tie:  It is a dress code worn only for events in the evening  after six p.m., black tie is less formal than white tie but more formal than informal or business attire. A Black Tie invitation calls for formal attire. Men wear tuxedos, women wear cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates. An LBD completely works for black tie functions.

2. Creative Black tie:  Leaves room for you to get creative with your black tie ensemble. How about wearing a tux with no tie, a super sexy black dress.

3. Black tie optional: It gives you an idea as to the formality of the event, but the host does not mandate you to dress so formally.

4. White tie:  Is the most formal and the most not likely to see dress code. It is alternatively called the ultra formal dress code. It requires men to dress in full formal wear including a white tie, white shirt, a white waistcoat, a black court shoes and  preferably a tail coat. while ladies are to preferably wear a long dress.

5. Formal: Any dress code that says formal means either a white tie attire for events after six pm or for mornings, a morning dress.

6. Semi formals: Doesn’t require you to dress so formally like for a white tie event. Simply wear  black tie attire.

7. Informal: Is in between formal and casual. It entails dressing down form a black tie attire but not so down that it becomes a casual attire. Informal dressing could be a suit with a skirt or trouser and a shirt

8. Business formal: Is a a dress code required by companies were their employees dress head to toe in a corporate attire.

9. Resort Formal: Formal resort wear is usually a little less dressy than typical black tie or formal wear.

10. Casual: This dress code lets you get comfortable and express your personal style. Jeans and t shirts have been labelled official uniforms of the casual look. You could wear day dress and easy clothing.

11. Dressy Casual: Is a notch up casual. Instead of looking too plain in your casual look you can dress it up with a nice, fabulous heels and nice jewelry dressy top

dressy casual attire

12: Business casual: Is a cross between business formal and casual. It is a crisp neat look. You want to dress down your business wear but still want to be able to meet important clients in your ensemble. You can take off your suit or jacket and simply sport a shirt and pants or skirt.

13. Smart Casual: It is often mistook for business casual and really could pass of as it but there is a slight difference. Unlike business casual in smart casual you can pair denim with your business look. denim, ballet flats can work here as long as you keep the look structured with a blazer or jacket or a shirt

14: Cocktail:A cocktail party is traditionally a pre-dinner event and women should wear a cocktail dress, which means a tastefully short evening dress, maybe a black dress. Absolutely no jeans whatsoever and you can hold back on that fancy ball gown because it is not a formal event.

15: Festive: This dress code would require you to dress with the season in mind; use colors that remind you of the season. That being said your seasonal attire should be something smart and special and should have a luxurious touch to your normal style.

16: Fancy: Has to do with costumes and dressing up in a garb.

17: Active: This usually an attire that makes for one to be active usually a sports wear or some kinds of casual wear.

18: Native: This  one is tricky, especially for people who do not love wearing native attires. If you can go full on the native, if not a hint of native attire and accessories.

Wearing Stripes the right way

Wearing stripes, easy but wearing stripes successfully not so much. Here are tips to wear it successfully.

1. Go Vertical. This adds height to your body and gives a lurch. If you are tall stay away

2.  Going Horizontal packs on the pounds and are more suitable for petite sizes;

3.  A Single stripe. It could be on your top, side of you pants or across your dress, this is a more modern way to wear stripes without having to deal with all the issues.

4. Go Thin- The thinner the stripe, the better off you are. Enough said.

5. Texturize- A knit fabric or woven stripe works so well with everything

6. Pair with the solids- Solids colors work well with stripes.

7. The wider the stripes the bolder your statement.

8.  Play it safe with the neutral- Deciding what way to wear stripes is one thing choosing the right color is another, so save yourself the stress and go neutral.

9. Wear it as an accessory. You can never really go wrong with accessories even if they are in stripes.

10. Mix it up. Wear a fashion pieces with mixes of large stripes and smaller stripes and vast colors.

11. Jazz it up: Why not try wearing stripes adorned with glitter, embellishments or graphic art; it makes your stripe look more modern and fun.

12. Invisible Me- Now you see me, now you don’t. alternating stripes of a light fabric and a transparent fabric makes for the perfect stripe fashion.

13. Go sexy with your stripes, try zebra prints. If worn right always sexy.

14. Wearing stripe asymmetrically can make for a nice surprise.
